6th International Health Sciences and Life Congress Has Started

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) hosted the 6th International Health Sciences and Life Congress, which has started.

The opening ceremony of the congress, which will be held between March 2-5, was held at the Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Library. MAKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Durmuş Acar, Rector Advisors Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mustafa Kılınç, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, Acting Provincial Health Director Dr. Murat Erk, academicians and students attended the opening ceremony of the congress.

The opening speech of the congress, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, was made by the congress president Assoc. Dr. Mümin Polat. In his speech, Assoc. Dr. Polat said, “Our congress is in its 6th year this year. In these 6 years, we have hosted approximately 5,000 researchers from more than 40 countries on 5 different continents. With this feature, the Health Sciences and Life Congress meets the qualification of being an international congress very strongly every year. In addition, our congress is being organized for the 3rd consecutive year with the support of TÜBİTAK BİDEB. In our congress this year again; very high-quality papers will be presented, especially multi-center studies produced by joint working groups, academic studies produced from European Union, TÜBİTAK, and BAP-supported projects, as well as studies produced from master's and doctoral theses. I would like to express my gratitude to our esteemed participants who contribute to the world of science and literature with such high-quality studies, sharing their knowledge and experiences with us by participating from the distinguished universities of our country and the world.”

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Durmuş Acar also emphasized the importance of technology in health in his speech. Prof. Dr. Acar said in his speech: “Diseases and epidemics that directly affect social life have occurred. These were processes that could not be prevented by individual efforts. Therefore, the continuity of public health policies is of great importance. Today, we can see that health systems show various differences in performance within the scope of welfare services. The World Health Organization defines health as follows: health is not just the absence of disease or disability, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. As social scientists, we also define that a person is considered ill when they cannot perform the social role expected of them. In this context, it should not be forgotten that health is not just a personal phenomenon, it also has a social aspect, and illness is never solely the responsibility of the person who is ill, and health is a right that is inherent from birth. Therefore, those who provide health services should provide this service to people from all segments of the country within the framework of the principles of equality, justice, and fairness.”

Rector Advisor Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mustafa Kılınç also made a speech. Dr. Kılınç said, “The 6th congress is being organized, but we witnessed its first birth. We saw its development and there is a separate excitement and happiness in witnessing this. Excitement and curiosity are important in academia. However, after a while, it disappears on its own, but this congress continues to strengthen every year. It continues stronger and more efficiently every year. I thank those who contributed.” he said.

After the speeches, the congress sessions began. Within the scope of the congress, which will last for 3 days, a total of 650 scientific studies will be presented, including 260 oral presentations in 27 face-to-face sessions, 390 oral presentations in 36 remote sessions, and poster presentations.
